Eulogy

Con Connery was born in 1939 to Parents Paddy and Johanna Connery. One of thirteen children Con loved working on the small Farm so much so that as life went on, he was a Farmer by day and a Singer/Musician by night. Con started his musical career with the school band at Bulgaden, Limerick. He went on to join the Crystal Star Showband and then along with Brothers Jim and Tony they formed the Vantones Showband where they were joined by brother Johnny, Brian O'Neill, Con Morrison, Jack Sheehan & Mike Heffernan. Con would often say "You'll never see the like of these days again" and he was so right. Con was very proud to start his own family Band eventually with his own children, Colette, Ann and Conor but as daughter Geraldine wasn’t well he gave up the music to help his wife Kathleen at home. Con was a man of great integrity who loved life and loved family. He lived a long and full life and while he worked hard to rear his family he enjoyed life to the full. He will always be remembered for his musical talent and stage presence and his love for hunting with his hounds. His personality and charm drew others to him and he always had a smile and a wise word for everyone he encountered. He left a legacy of many friends and so many touched by his life. Two years after his death and people still speak fondly of him. He fought a hard fight at the end with dignity and strength and when his time came to leave this world he took his last breath with courage and faith. RIP CON
